About this blog

This blog is about my current model railroad layout project; The N scale "Summit" layout, which is a freelanced interpretation of the Southern Pacific Tehachapi tunnels and their surroundings. Or at least, that is what it is meant to be. What it will turn out to be is another matter. The banner photo above shows what I want to recreate in N scale.

Backdrop sheets in place

Today I mounted the masonite sheets that make up the backdrop. Now things are really starting to look like "a layout to be".

The foundation for the U-shaped fixed part of the layout is now more or less done. The next step will either be to mount shelves above the layout, attach lighting to the underside of those shelves and install the valence, or to construct the liftout section spanning the door way.

I will probably do the liftout first. It need to be in place when I figure out how the fascia and valence is to meet and still leave space for the tracks going to and from the liftout.
